Give your desktop a whole new look
Published on March 9, 2005 By Stardock Central In WinCustomize News

PCMag.com has released the PC Magazine Desktop.  It is a program that when run, changes the look and feel of the Windows GUI to have a PC Magazine look and feel. It includes a new PC Magazine visual style and a wallpaper.  The PC Magazine desktop makes use of Stardock's ThemeManager OEM technology that is designed to allow companies to create branded desktops that can be applied by users easily and reliably. If the user wants to go back to the classic Windows desktop, it's just a button click away. If your company is interested in licensing this technology, contact us.

If you already have Object Desktop installed, the PC Magazine Desktop will be added to your list of suites in Object Desktop's Theme Manager.

The archive is fine now, but you can only install it on WinXP, not Win2k.

Very nice, clean theme, congrats for the great look.

I'd use it if only it didn't have PC in a box plastered all over it... but then it wouldn't be a PC magazine theme. Jokes aside, it is a clean crisp theme. Usability is high and you definitely get the point that it's PC Magazine's theme.

Anyway, it's nice to see different companies using skins to bring color to their fans' desktops... Good job. I hope that a whole lot more start using this technology.

PC Mag said it won't work on Win2k. Period. End of story. That really sucks!

It's Windows XP-only.  We make a version of ThemeManager OEM that works on Windows 2000 but it's more expensive since supporting more operating systems costs more.
