Cinemaware's Space Rangers 2: Rise of the Dominators has arrived on TotalGaming.net today! Space Rangers 2 is a unique combination of the space sim, adventure, and strategy genres. It features a huge, interconnected universe with more than 60 star systems and 250 planets, hundreds of AI ships to interact with, five different races to choose from and open-ended gameplay, where you can interact with the story or strike out on your own, and more!

A new and even more dangerous force than the Klissans is threatening the galaxy. A new extremely hazardous cyber-lifeform appears on one of the planets that used to be under Klissan control: powerful combat robots, who are not only capable of carrying out orders given to them, but who also have an intellect of their own. Possessed by their own programs, the battle machines come into space spreading fear and terror across the inhabited worlds.

Thanks to the Humans these robots become known as the Dominators. The civilized worlds are forced to withstand the oppression of three Dominator types: the Blazeroids, the Kelleroids, and the Terronoids. These three branches of machine evolution are at war with each other, which is only to the advantage of the Coalition Forces.

Space Rangers 2 can be purchased for $19.99 or just 2 tokens for TotalGaming.net members. For more information, visit http://totalgaming.stardock.com/games/?id=sr2.

Does this include the original Space Rangers like the retail copy I have on my shelf? If so, you've earned a purchase so I can de-Starforce another title.

Sorry, Vinco, this version only includes Space Rangers 2. We may be adding Space Rangers 1 down the line, but it will need to be purchased separately.

In Stardock Central go to Tools -> Settings -> Internet and click on Refresh XML Data. See if that does the trick. If not, please email support@stardock.com to open a support ticket.

The version of Space Rangers 2 on TotalGaming.net doesn't contain StarForce or any other DRM. The retail box version does contain StarForce, however.

I wanted to try Space Rangers 2 before risking my money on a game that I do not like. I downloaded the demo. I played the demo for under an hour (seemed like 30 minutes)and in the beginning of the combat training mission (about the 4th mission) I got a message that my time had run out for the demo! I may have wasted some time by going away from the game to answer a phone call or get a drink. However, I was not aware that I was on a timer with the demo. I assumed that I would get to finish the training missions. Sorry but that time is too short to get a feel for the game and make an informed decision. I am not risking my dollars based up so miniscule an experience as under an hour.

The demo needs to allow players to complete the training missions. Perhaps even allow the player to complete the training missions as different races??!!

If this game is so rich in content and challenging in play the demo should allow the player to have a reasonable time to experience that.  This short demo is sort of like saying that a postcard of a landscape in Africa is enough to say that you have experienced the whole continent.

The demo isn't real-time based. It ends when 2 years of game time has gone by. I played through it several times and always got between 1-3 hours out of the demo.

I purchased the game Space Rangers 2 and even registered the serial number with Stardock but I don't know where on the website to download the game. Could someone help me figure out where I can go to get the game download?

You need to use Stardock Central to download games from TotalGaming.net. More details can be found here:

It would be nice if stardock central realized (or could be told) you installed the demo. It was a pretty large download to try out the demo, and then after the time is up, you need to download it all again when you pay for it? If I'm missing some obvious way of doing this, I'd love to hear of it. If not, please consider it a suggestion

(Edit: For reference, the demo restriction is both real-time and global, as far as I can tell. By that I mean that it's based on time passing in the real world, not time in the game world, and also that there is one set amount, any games reduce this amount - If I start a new game, I get no actual playtime whatsoever, as soon as I launch it says my time has elapsed)

I dl'ed the demo, and made the mistake of watching the whole intro sequence. I got the same "time has expired" message at about the time I was going to start the first combat mission. Perhaps I did play for an hour or so. I don't think I played long enough to get a real feel for combat, or anything other than the tutorial.

I will follow up with the publisher on the demo issues, but I haven't been able to reproduce them. They have assurred me before that the limit is based on in-game time only. The demo can't be upgraded to the full version, which is why you need to download many of the files again.

2 tokens or $20... That's about a third the price of a "normal full" game.... And it's been keeping me up too late for about a week now....

Thanx Stardock for getting this game on TGN! It has been a very long time since I've seen a game this nice. Chances are that I'll be losing a lot of sleep during the comming couple of weeks just to finish this game the first time, not even mentioning trying out the alternatives (different roles, different races, difficulty levels)......

Glad you're enjoying it.

On the Demo front, I just heard back from Cinemaware and they were mistaken in what they initially told me. The demo does time out after 1-hour of real-time.   I could have sworn that didn't happen to me, but I must not have it the limit before reaching the in-game limit....
