New Power Saving Feature
Published on September 6, 2007 By Stardock Central In WinCustomize News

Stardock released DeskScapes 1.02 today.  It is available as a free download from dream.wincustomize.com and users of Object Desktop can now download the update application through Stardock Central.

Stardock DeskScapes allows users of Windows Vista Ultimate to have dynamic, animated wallpaper. It works as an extension to the Windows DreamScene Ultimate Extra that is available to all users of Windows Vista Ultimate.

Deskscapes now has a power saving feature that automatically turns off the animations when running on battery power. If you’re ever working on a laptop, this feature will especially come in handy as it will extend battery life, without having to remember to shut off the Dream animation manually. This feature is set as a default but can also be turned off manually by the user.

DeskScapes 1.02 also comes with a new Copper dream that creates a copper pool of ripples on your desktop. To find more dreams visit http://dream.wincustomize.com.

If you don’t have DeskScapes, click here for more information and a free download.

SDC not showing an update is because SDC itself is not updated. Try updating SDC.

Ummm yeah, SDC updates itself on startup if there's an update for it. Thanks for playing. It's not the first time SDC's software availability xmls were screwed on release day. Remember with WB 5.x came out? It got messed up then as well. Not only that, but it always happens on a Friday like this. Each time SD has released an update on a Friday it's always messed up one way or another. It's their track record, that's all.

One of you SD genius boys want to tell me why SDC states there's a version 1.02.027 available, but the full exe install download on the dream website isn't indicative of this same version? Which one is right? Why can't you guys get SDC's update listings to properly display things? Why is this so hard for you guys.... why?

Any help for those of us who hadn't backed up Dynamic Earth? I no longer know whether it's daylight or nighttime outside. Much more of this and I'll be forced to actually go look out a window. Please help me before it gets to that point!

If you lost your copy of Dynamic Earth, due to this update or otherwise, you can always re-download it by going into your account and finding the list of all your purchased dreams. Once there you will get links to re-download any dreams you have purchased in the past in case you need them again.

I got my copy of Dynamic Earth from the "Dreams" item in Stardock Central, under the "DeskScapes" item in the "Object Desktop" tab. I have re-downloaded that item to no avail.
