SkinStudio is a program that allows users to create their own Windows GUI. You can make your own title bars, push buttons, radio buttons, Start bars, and virtually every other control. You then save your creation as a visual style that can be used by WindowBlinds to apply it.
Version 3 of SkinStudio has a much enhanced user interface. It allows users to work on multiple visual styles at once, can change the color of GUI elements on the fly, and has a much easier and cleaner user interface to make it easier to use.
Version 3 also supports all the new features of WindowBlinds 4 which will be released next week. That includes making your own task panels (shellstyles), logon/logoff dialogs, Control panel backgrounds and much more.
With SkinStudio, you can literally draw up in your favorite paint program your idealized computer interface and then import that into SkinStudio and cut and paste that into GUI elements. For instance, you could draw your own push buttons in MS Paint, save it as a bitmap, import into into and quickly turn that into a real push button. Same is true of title bars, title bar buttons and more.
SkinStudio 3 is free for the basic version. SkinStudio Professional 3 is $19.95 (or you can get it as part of Stardock''s Object Desktop). The Professional version allows users to import GUI elements from other skins. If you''re a visual style author, this can save you a lot of time by allowing you to bring in work from your other skins. Or for personal use you can create that ultimate Windows look and feel by mixing and matching pieces from other visual styles. It also has a host of other useful, handy features for working with visual styles.
