Stardock has launched PoliticalMachine.com. The new website is designed with the dual purpose of being the home page for Stardock's upcoming strategy game, The Political Machine as well as a neutral political discussion/debate site for users interested in discussing politics, current events, etc.

The new site makes use of content from Stardock's new JoeUser.com blog site (visit JoeUser.com to get your own free blog). Articles submitted under the category of "Politics" automatically gets syndicated to PoliticalMachine.com.

As for the strategy game, The Political Machine puts the player in the role of campaign manager. The player must put together a poltical campaign with the right presidential candidate in an effort to win the US presidential election. Players must raise money, take out ads, deal with the news media, give campaign speeches, and much more. The game world is based on the real world with an effort to be as accurate as possible. The game is both single player and multiplayer over the Internet. The release date is May 2004.

Users who are interested in discussing world affairs, history, electoral politics, etc. are invited to visit PoliticalMachine.com. A forum and article creation page are already available.

Best of all, if you have a Stardock.net account (WinCustomize.com, GalCiv.com, JoeUser.com, etc.) you can use your existing UserID and password on PoliticalMachine.com and start interacting immediately.

Political discussions... isn't that another title for "flame war?" hehe. Have fun you guys. I'll be avoiding that forum board like the plague. I get enough excitement from the WC board.

And if i didn't know better i'd say the artist behind the screen shot in the upper right has to be the artwork of Mr. boyer.

"Political discussions... isn't that another title for "flame war?"

I've been posting on political blogs for a while and my comparison of Dean's current campaign to McGovern's campaign is a featured article. Responses have ranged from agreement to disagreement as I expected. (Although how anyone could possibly disagree with me..?!?) All in all, the atmosphere has been polite and informative, perhaps more so because people come expecting political discussion, as opposed to finding a political thread on a skinning site. Several members of our skinning community can be found on the political sites, including AJCrowley and Bakerstreet. Good to see them!

I like politics and I like blogs. I don't think the odds of getting flamed for a post are any higher on PoliticalMachine.com than on any other website. And I'm not afraid to post my opinion or to read someone else's.

Just my thoughts.

Larry i'm guessing you haven't been on the WC message boards lately Politics and religion are the 2 things people like to get fired up about the most imho. I'm not trying to rain on your parade.

Did you just argue with me about arguments?!? TSF makes my head hurt!

Arguing politics is okay, for me at least. I expect people to disagree and to marshall arguments to rebut. That's not the same as "flames" as well you know.

Besides, perhaps you missed what I said about the atmosphere on political sites being different than political posts on skinning sites. Check it out for yourself. I know that I would be interested in reading (and perhaps arguing with) your posts on a blog.

Sorry, Larry, but from what I've read so far it's mostly people flaming other people or quoting huge articles to "support" their flaming. This is why I stay out of politics.

On the plus side, the game looks like it might be fun. *g*

Some posts will be flame wars, some won't. It happens on any forum. Depends on the subject matter. OFten flame wars occur because one or more of the participatins doesn't know the subject matter but still insists on vigorously participating.

That is true anywhere. On a skin site if we're discussing graphics and someone insists that .PCX's are the ultimate graphics format and becomes milistant about that "fact" odds are he'll get flamed eventually.

Political Machine, very cool.
But is it really politically correct?
HA! who cares we all know who's going to win.

That's right...

He's tanned...

He's rested...

He's back from the dead...
