How Stardock's Partnership With Samurai Works Helps The Community
Published on March 7, 2005 By Stardock Central In WinCustomize News

Given Japan's penchant for new technologies, the success of Object Desktop should not be surprising. Beginning with WindowBlinds, which was localized last year, and continuing forward with DesktopX, SkinStudio and ObjectDock Plus, have been embraced by the Japanese public and corporations alike.

One of the benefits to this is that we are establishing new communities. In addition to the https://www.wincustomize.jp site, Samurai Works has also established the MySkins site at www.myskins.jp

Although new, this site is already receiving over 2,500 unique visitors a day and is expected to break 100,000 unique visitors in the month of March. About 5,000 people have already become members of this site.

We encourage skinners to give permission to have their skins hosted on the Japanese sites. It is an easy way to increase your download numbers and to help create a new skinning community.

We urge all WindowBlinds, ObjectDock and DesktopX authors to contact k_hiroki@samuraiworks.com to give permission.

Does the website display screenshots and information on the skin plus links to other sites for the actual downloads? So the skin would be downloaded from here or another site housing the skin? If so I don't mind that system as I'm still in control of my skins I guess

OK lets say I give permission. How then would I keep track of download counts?

Given my permission for my meagre efforts, so I'll let you know if anything happens.

www.myskins.jp is coming up 404
<rolls eyes> might wanna change it from www.myskins.jp to htp://myskins.jp

it's www.myskin.jp, not www.myskins.jp here. www or not it seems to work ok.

Done. Hope it is a success!

I've given my permission and been told that they only use skins that are at WinCustomize. I think they link to the skin here. That makes it easy to keep control of your skins. And any downloads would get added to your count here.

I e-mailed them.
